Stitching got a little messy on the teeny one, but that's okay because I had meant to do the non-floatie version and give it little seed-bead legs so I need to do another anyway.

Also that's Noto Emoji vs. Twemoji flamingo. They're both a little more detail than I like at that size, but I think Twemoji, the one with the white outline, is nicer.

My previous work area, a rental, had carpet that would swallow up sharp things until you least expected them. I am very happy to have a nice concrete-with-ergo-mats space here, but somehow I can still lose things like this. It's just... gone.

I really should wear shoes in the workroom, because even though my snap presses aren't strictly handheld I have a bad habit of holding them in my hand while sitting at the computer and, well, there's one of these rolling around on the floor somewhere now.

Decided to run the flamingo to show each of the five different carrier designs I generate for emoji now. It's a little hard to tell since it's white-on-white and I nipped the corners of both types, but the tab and feltie on the left is a square while the ones on the right are rounded square.

I have not messed with a serger much but my experience has been: I never use it because threading is too much work, but then when I do use it I go "I should do this more often, it's totally worth the effort!"
I don't do much that calls for it, but this is the year I'm making a Katwise coat, dangit.

(It's also an adventure because I haven't glued that felt flamingo's legs on. It's all felt so I could probably get away with fabric glue rather than the usual E6000, but I can't find that either.)

Also: I don't actually like pink, how is it I have such an *amazing* range of pink fabrics/vinyls/felts?!

The flamingos have gone the better part of a year with only having pictures of the plush versions (except for the tab which doesn't come in plush) so I'm rectifying that. But I guess I gotta hang this up which is always an adventure, lighting-wise.

A thing I didn't mention yesterday was that sewing that sparkle vinyl resulted in a shattered embroidery needle that I heard bounce off the throat upright (to the right) and ricochet ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE BASEMENT so I guess I need to wear footwear for awhile.
(It didn't seem that tough, but...)

A smarter person would have: used the 1mm minky for the small one and the 3mm for the large one, and also not cut off the loop on the sparkle one. (I guess I'll glue a bar pin on it, which is another use for the smaller plaques anyway.)

My samples are not ideal for this but I always drop a freebie when I get new Ko-Fi/Patreon supporters, so I went ahead with it. All these are 4x4 hoop sized, but it includes up to twice that size in plush, flat charm, and bunting styles.

Oh, I remembered what it is: "dangit you guys changed the export option and now the command line doesn't work, where are the docs?"

(90% of the issues are things that are answered elsewhere in the issues, but Ink/Stitch's audience is very non-technical so they don't know how to search and so those of us who do, just answer-and-close, answer-and-close. I don't have a Mac but I know if it's an M1, the answer is "install Rosetta"!)

I went to open an Ink/Stitch issue and thought "first I should answer all the open issues I can" and after answering a dozen or so I forgot my own issue so... I guess that's one more I don't have to answer!

Kid once asked why I didn't play Minecraft, I said "Someone has to cook for you and Dad" and, welp, later I did start playing Minecraft and some days we grabbed fast food. I know my weaknesses.

Everybody mocked JoAnn for putting their Halloween stuff out a few weeks ago but folks, it is the Fourth of July and if you check Michael's they are *frantically* trying to catch up, "More collections coming soon!!!1!!" and item listings live but with "coming soon" because they're not stocked yet.

Or I can do it as a fourth(!) hooping. (Well, third: dolphin doesn't have embroidery on the belly piece like the shark mouth. Still. Three hoopings is too many!)

After this, of course, I remembered that the problem I was having with the dolphin was: horizontal vs. vertical tail. I really don't want to add another hooping, but I refuse to make an inaccurate tail. The tail can be horizontal (c.f. the Chibi Orca) IF it's in line with the body, losing the curve.

The problem with the original shark is I had to put it on the acrylic riser so you could properly see its anxious little face.

I am supposed to be preparing the workroom for the new embroidery-machine stand so I can take how-to videos but yesterday's dolphin adventure got me thinking about the Blue Shark design ( silverseams.com/shop/downloa... ) and how I wanted a dolphin but with some curve to it. Anyway, a (shark) test:

In case you couldn't get your head around the scale, the biggest (so far) frog is about 6" long. The teeniest one is a little over an inch and a half (I should do that size in short-pile minky).
The design published last night: silverseams.com/shop/downloa... (Patreon shop is for non-members too!)

I start my product instructions by making a copy of an existing one in the new product's directory, and it regularly does a "Broken links have been fixed" thing for the new relative path - but this time for whatever reason, it didn't find the existing images correctly with amusing results.
