The entire genre of dancehall (more or less) came about when a reggae producer repurposed a "rock" beat he accidentally discovered on a casio kid's toy keyboard. People recently discovered the long-anonymous Japanese woman who programmed the beat was in fact a huge reggae fan and scholar.

For sure! One of the things I love about the yoots these days is that there is exponentially more respect for people who rock their own look, even if it bucks trends/norms. That 'you do you' ethos wasn't strong when I was growing up around the turn of the century in my experience

Tuna bowl! Soba noodles underneath, with some Sichuan-style smashed cucumber, red cabbage and chili slaw, microgreens, and cilantro. Tuna is coated in furikake and quick seared. I also added some sliced radishes after the photo 🍽

Lots of talk on diversity in journalism recently. Here's the thing: diversity and inclusion brings accuracy, because stories are more fully told. A diverse staff helps accuracy, which is a basic journalism value. Other benefits are great, but fairness and accuracy are important.

We’re societally conditioned to pay more attention to the thin, white, conventionally attractive folks and amplify them. While this ain’t their fault, it does mean *you* need to put active effort into subverting that urge and be conscious of who/how you’re interacting with.
