I am increasingly worried about military coup honestly. Not hard to imagine some set of generals somewhere thinking that they need to step in and stop this madness.

I'm not worried about one, which is unfortunate because I would welcome one at this point. Every officer I've ever met was a committed small-d democrat, even the conservative ones

Senior Officers of the US Military take their oath to defend the Constitution seriously & the idea that civilian leaders make the Big Decisions is ground in from day 1. The Joint Chiefs of Staff are not doing a coup without cabinet level leaders declaring a 25th Amendment situation.

If Trump returns and immediately starts trying to deploy troops with shoot to kill orders in NYC or w/e to quell the inevitable protests, if Trump does move on his goal of leaving NATO…yeah, it’s one more thing that seemed fairly absurd to imagine a decade ago, but now?
