And that’s a tricky thing too because at least publicly a good boss is generally gonna be one who sticks up for their employees and pushes back if they’re attacked…which can easily turn into protecting guilty people from the rightful consequences

Exactly! I could also see feeling very differently about what Biden should do if Harris (the only realistic replacement option imo) was really popular but for largely unclear to me reasons she’s not & I expect the press would be just as brutal on her as they’ve been to Joe

Yeah, that’s not good! And on first blush to me at least seems more of a personal knock against Harris than the ‘94 crime bill or the Clarence Thomas hearings when Biden was a senator are for him, both of which the institutional & factors leading to the bad decisions seem more apparent to me

I also think that it’s not at all certain Harris could overcome the misogyny & racism that permeates everything in this country to be able to pull off a November victory, even if she’d been the incumbent for a few months. Someone assassinates Biden & we still get Trump? No thanks

I was assuming the secret service person under discussion was on Trump’s detail. I don’t want anyone laying a finger on Joe, regardless of how well he’s doing, but Trump is solidly in the “Would you kill baby Hitler?” zone except I’d assume Hitler was as cute a baby as any.

Which of course is what we’d expect to see (amped up to 11) the minute Biden stepped down to let her have the nomination. Doesn’t mean she couldn’t win, but if people think there won’t be an emails/swift boat/sighed condescendingly that’ll dog her every step they’re incredibly naive!

Do you know what the issue(s) with Harris is? I’ve had a clear sense that a lot of people don’t like her but never gotten a real read on why. I’ve seen people say she ran a really lousy campaign which may be true but that was 4 years ago doesn’t speak to her present day ability to govern
