"Why don't you simply leave" is the exact same Individual Responsibility doctrine that Republicans use to justify every single thread they pluck from the social safety net.
Casting the people who are hurt most as the ones to blame for their own pain only furthers the Republican project.
So, as somebody currently trying to "just move" from the US to Germany, I can honestly say that, even with my enormous advantages, it's a hugely difficult and expensive process with no guarantee of success.
