it's not possible to air condition the upstairs, it's not finished, it's not even a legal bedroom, it's an un-insulated halfway-converted crawl space area and the window is just a hole cut in the wall covered with chicken wire. it's not a good bedroom! there isn't another one tho

I understand, you've described it before. But there really isn't anywhere you can't use a wheeled portable unit, even when you're stuck with casement windows, like I was during the heat dome. It was hard for me to get over the "omfg, I am wasting so much power" thing, but self-preservation won.
