it is okay to change your mind about something or someone when presented with new information.
itās okay to have misjudged because you were lacking that information to begin with.
itās okay to have been wrong.
learn from it, grow, and try to take lessons from your own mistakes AND other peopleās.

I love my agent I just got editorial notes today. I trust his judgement.
Finding and an agent who will fight for your work is difficult. Itās not like finding a job or auditioning for a play. Itās subjective. Itās partly based on vibes and timing. #kidlitchat

Iād be wary in this online climate given what just happened at KT Literary.
An agent was fired for taking a rejected authorās concept to Twitter in hopes someone else would submit the same idea but better.
Publishing is really chaotic right now.

Iām still there because I hold out hope that heāll have to sell it at some point and it will morph again.
And the engagement (if you can get it) is valuable. Had a tweet go viral recently with a link š to a book list. 1500 ppl clicked on it. You canāt get that conversion rate anywhere else.

Trolls come in and derive joy from destroying everything. Hard to believe that people used to mind their own niche business online.

I popped into the forums and made sure to comment on other peopleās work. It was very comment for comment when it was free. When it went behind the paywall/membership wall it completely changed. Now this is before the age of bots. #kidlitchat

I think some groups just have their season. Iām in one that started off great. We met online regularly. There were chairs for intake, marketing and special guests. They had friends who had gotten film options explain the process and then it just lost steam #kidlitchat

My first retreat with a writers group here in Atlanta was the kickstart to me really solidly believing I could get published. All that creative energy and comraderie is energy shifting. #kidlitchat

There was minimal pressure and you could see what kinds of pitches agents were into at the time.

I really enjoyed WRITEONCON. It was a kidlit conference that was completely virtual that you could attend for less than $20.
It lasted for a few days and the forums were phenomenal.
Someone else has the name now. #kidlitchat

Itās sad to see that community shrink because of the bots. I got my agent because of a Twitter pitch contest. They stopped doing them in 2023 #kidlitchat

They donāt rely on massive individual donors so that gives them the power of independence. Private colleges should take note.
