here's the rub, cheap airline fares killed the American road trip for most people. remember car enthusiasts are edge cases. If I'm with a normie on a long road trip, oh they get hella antsy after about 300 miles.
even those that do road trip, most of the time, they drive about 40 miles a day
Is airline traveling really cheap though? We have no understanding how any average income small family could vacation via air.
Seems like a conditioning for the antsy factor. Tablets and other entertainment options do seem cheap.
Only 40 miles per day seems a bit crazy to me. I just retraced the approximate route of my last family vacation, and even missing some off-route jogs it averaged just under 200 miles per day.
40 is more like, I drive downtown, go a bit further to visit my sister, then get groceries on the way home.
