I think even with USMCA it's still tough. Also, Canada is the one country where I've been aggressively questioned about work travel. They do not like Americans working there I guess. As for Mexico. I'm lucky, my mom is Mexican so I can apply for Mexican citizenship.

Mexico is still pretty easy to move to for Americans (we briefly considered buying a condo in PV and looked into the process). The issue with Mexico is it's a failed state -- CDMX is out of water, most cities outside it are run by cartels.
