honestly hate that every time there's an industry bad actor, lists of "works by marginalized authors to support instead" start circulating like it's a moral obligation to be done out of guilt, & it's crickets every other day of the year. my art is not to be taken in as a reactionary measure

I think there was a conscious effort on the part of much of my family (and many Northern Black ppl) to leave tragedies like that "in the past" because they hoped younger generations would be free of the mental burden of that violence. White people, of course, have different priorities!

This is how I feel. Yes, we need to believe we have agency if anything is going to get better. BUT. If we claim that "being a doomer makes you no different from a fascist," like I've seen some on here say, we're depriving people of the catharsis that could very well keep them alive.

Sure, most supplements are scams, so that doesn't surprise me. I was referring to the fact that people don't declaw their cats as much anymore and it's a lot more common to see cat trees and scratching posts in someone's house. More enrichment + less mutilation = happier cats

I have no proof, but I feel like people like Jackson Galaxy have helped a lot over the past decade or so. If you treat a cat like a dog, it makes sense that both parties end up miserable and the poor cat is always hiding under the bed.

I agree that their messaging is trash and I also worry that many Black people have always been lowercase c conservative and Trump's rise just made it more acceptable to admit it. At least that's how it looks based on my own family. Lots of "well I'm not poor, so why should I care" talk

So much of (good) editing is just asking questions and using the answers to shape your feedback. I don't know how an AI would ever meaningfully replicate that rapport, and most writers resent the editing process when it's not present.
