some have said Wrath Goddess Sing killed several other retellings during a wild rampaging aristeia that culminated in the death of Hector, which is why there's still no retelling entitled HECTOR THE HORSE-TAMER.

YOKE OF STARS (aka my fish communism novella) is releasing on July 16, 2024.
I've been off social media because of the state of my health.
If you feel like spreading the word about the book, I'd much appreciate it.

Is losing yourself in a military telepresence system worth getting gender affirming care? This story does incredibly cool stuff with POV and tense.

“A Canyon of Blood for the Normalest Man Alive”

The weirdest and grossest story in the anthology. Impossible to describe.
It’s like NAKED LUNCH had a nasty baby with early cyberspace-heavy cyberpunk.

Your trans commune is also a hive mind! Sounds great, except what happens when one of your members has terrible trauma? What happens when they start acting out? And you can feel EVERYTHING they feel?

I enjoyed Roadwarden quite a bit. An interesting structure and very atmospheric writing.
Have you played Citizen Sleeper? Easily some of the best cyberpunk writing I've read recently, and the creator is trans.
I haven't finished it, but Norco is an interesting surreal Louisiana narrative game.

Next up we have a poem by @rykaaoki.bsky.social, “The Woman of Water Dreams”, originally published in Why Dust Shall Never Settle Upon This Soul (2015) by Biyuti Press.
I love the way this poem mixes linear algebra, queer death, food, and the indefinable meaning of trans lives.

that is my favorite part of any high fantasy. I love how Tolkein's prose is full to bursting with love for plants/nature
I want to read high fantasy like that, or really anything where the author's hyperfixation shines through (high fantasy moby dick whale facts would be amazing)

Only tip I have is that the outdoor patio area is a really nice space to relax/decompress while also being able to chat with people. Much better vibe than the bar imo.

Like, if you read Yoon Ha Lee, or China Mieville, it's obviously. weird from the start, but with Wolfe, you think you're reading a normal-ish dark fantasy, but as you read, you keep going, wait, hold on, WHAT? and the double takes keep escalating as you progress. if that makes sense.

One thing I admire about Gene Wolfe is. the ability to make the weirdness come at you from an unexpected angle, like an assassin sneaking up from behind.
