This is why I keep Liking and Reposting artists. Right or not, artists use these to judge whether it’s worth using one platform over another. If you want more artists to come AND STAY on Bluesky, pls - Like, comment, repost people’s work!

A lot of folks see social media as their personal broadcast, and it’s really only like that for celebrities or people who have big followings elsewhere. Everyone else has to actually interact.

I've been trying to at least like and leave a comment. It's much more fun to interact than just move on.

And unfortunately, if people don't post, there's nothing to engage with. Every person who happens to see your post can only like it once or repost it once. Everybody wants a lot for a little, but there's a minimum threshold that has to be met, and I don't feel like that's a bad thing necessarily.

When invites was a thing, I often saw new people introducing themselves in the digi-art feed. My first reaction was always the greet them - and they mostly stayed active from what I can tell! New folk now? Not so much. Since Bsky went public newcomers stopped trying imho.

Especially at the start… people want low effort but big returns. That’s why people make 3 posts, leave, come back a month later and are like ‘oops i forgot this place existed, haha it’s so dead’. It’s tiring, but if you don’t interact, it only fulfills the expectation there’s no use being here.

Yes! This! I do not always comment, but I never hesitate to like and repost. Even if I do not have many followers, it is still giving the artist a little more visibility, and in turn, my few followers might also like and repost, and so might tgeir followers, etc. Small steps are better than no step.
