If there’s one small tip I can give to everyone getting into Pathfinder 2E: They’re not races; they’re ancestries. Why does this matter? 1) Well, language matters. 2) These ancestries don’t reflect racial politics. 3) Because it’s a different system and we have terminology that we worked hard on.

Gary Gygax was not a genius and I need people to stop qualifying their criticism of him with this language. He was a flawed human who made some mostly fun games that took on a life of their own. I don't believe in calling people geniuses who defend slavery and genocide and think women are trash.

Oh no, I'm aware, I know some people in Brazil. It's absolutely terrible and without localized prices for pdfs digital access is still very expensive

$120 AUD for the hardcover PF2 player core here. $90 is about the price point for pretty much any ttrpg book. 5e being the exception there at $60. There's a conversation going on about how much a pdf should cost. Personally I think they should be as cheap as possible to enhance accessiblity.

I will be the first to say this is a very complex issue but the industry seems slow to respond to any market changes and have a lack of curiosity towards investigating solutions.

Absolutely but I think part of the problem, especially for the smaller publishers is that there is alternative means of production they aren't using and seem to be sticking to a centralized model. You can't complain that your books don't sell and blame customer apathy when we see the price double.

I only got the chance to talk to them a couple of times but whenever I did they were always gracious with answering my questions. And although they have many accolades, their contribution of the Capybara became so foundational to my understanding of Animal Companion design, it's hard to articulate.

For TTRPG writing specifically: -Keep a list of all proper nouns to make sure you're consistent. -Imagine you're the player or the GM, depending on the product. Do you have enough information to play/adjudicate? -Please use spellcheck. -Read read-aloud/boxed text out loud to make sure it flows.

While I am a stickler for strong foundational rules, one of the untapped avenues #pathfinder2e has is having feats with clear cut mechanics you can use as or even reverse-engineer into general actions if you don't want or like them as investment options #ttrpg

Something I've been thinking about regarding these kind of things is using the reverse of "Additional Feats" for archetypes. Like if the Rogue wants Assassinate but doesn't really want to pick up the archetype, let them pick it up as a class feat two levels after an Assassin could take it.

I certainly hope so because so much of Howl of the Wild seems to recognize that players like animal companions and want more options with them but then doesn't let them play dress up with them. It's weird because Paizo is so good with making cool items, I'd love to see more for companions.

Ok look I'll be the first to say it was an amazing book, truly. Some of the new equipment and mechanics introduced throughout have so many implications. But can we talk about how for a book with so many new animal companions, there is no actual new companion items?

I think there is an expectation as well. Like BSky does remind me of early Twitter in a lot of ways and it took years to build up to the point where it was. Bsky has potential it just needs that time and I think a lot of companies don't want to wait because of the expectation twitter set.

Honestly I think it's something that needs to be talked about more and that's the cognitive load on the GM. Is the GM having a good time with the system? Does it make it easy to explain things to the players? How long does session prep take? Is that fun? Questions that don't get asked nearly enough.
