Spurs fans going to the match on Sunday - join the campaign to stop the club axing concessions for over 65s. Pensioners being priced out while Levy gives himself £6.5m in pay and bonuses - it’s shameful. Turn your back and sing up for the seniors for one minute on 65!

Exactly that. And not letting your wife do all the “difficult” bits. Two beers and I bet you could do your podcast in Czech… Obviously it helps that spurs make the same mistakes repeatedly as the need for new vocabulary every week is naturally limited…

There’s a weird English attitude to language learning where it’s for “clever” people only and all about perfect writing, spelling, grammar etc rather than speaking and communication. School tests tell you how Wrong you were. But it’s daft - that’s not how any of us learned our first language

Your Czech is probably much more sophisticated if you have made a wedding speech. Don’t get hung up on perfect grammar or whatever cos you will improve hugely by using what you have - and people will help you or correct you if you ask them to

I suspect confidence is your problem and you’re better at it than you think! If you sit and learn “my team is Tottenham”, “my Czech team is whoever”, goal, corner, etc you can go in any bar where the football’s on telly, join in convo and make friends - in fact I bet you can already do this…

Best thing I was ever taught was to try and speak, communicate anyway, however bad you think you are. Wave your arms, mime but get something out. Cos if someone says “please supermarket where?” you understand and help. Communicate first, then you get more confident and improve technically afterwards

It’s a song in (not entirely idiomatic) English by a German band. I think Boney M were popular w people in Russia, as elsewhere, but Russian authorities at the time were not keen and tried to stop the group playing it there. Don’t think many would think it makes Radu or Romanians into Putin tbh
