A very short but fascinating book is Colm Toibin’s Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know about the fathers of Wilde, Yeats and Joyce. Late C19th Dublin high society is quite a mad place it turns out.

Isn’t the issue with the idea it could swing a result is that most people that would be swayed by the idea of tactically voting are already doing it anyway? There’s a slightly condescending “if only these fools knew how the electoral system worked” when it’s discussed I find!

Understandable but very jarring that my area, which was the closest contest in 2017 (leading to an unholy amount of flyers posted in 2019,) is now effectively uncontested by the Tories despite pretty recently having an MP and running the council. Just fully retreated. Not even a councillor anymore!
