The dispute I currently understand is that according to certain folks, Apple’s only competitor is Google and because Apple has the better hardware, Apple is a monopoly, which is absolutely why I have to ask this: If the current iPhone was only as fast as a Rpi 5, would anyone have cared? one more:

I disrupted the thread, apologies, I am terrible at being “social” at all, but what I was attempting to get at is that: For a company to be a monopoly in terms of the law, it requires that companies illustrate anti-competitive behavior (here in the U.S.) Apple definitely has done this, however:

I genuinely wish you lived here in Nashville, I would definitely buy you a coffee because while I dislike Intel’s current power hungry practices and dislike Intel as a whole (they aren’t a great company) I suspect you understand my viewpoint somewhat!

The point I am getting at is that we have arrived here because existing solutions have either not done enough or have gone to full scale ware against big tech. I 100% understand and support your viewpoint. However I feel like this is a viewpoint of last resort. Let us be real for a moment.

Early on, Intel actually produced a decent quality mobile chip (Atom, the “e-cores” of modern Intel chips, Atom was literally invented to address the market. The chip performed quite well, but drew far too much power because Intel. Atom, when it launched, beat every ARM design. One more. 👇

Some folks are literally orgasmic about Apple hardware and for good reason: Apple dumped a ton of money into making an amazing g SoC. Nothing is stopping other ARM vendors from doing this (regardless of OS) except lack of motive/money. (more below, because good god tech is great)

TIL that most companies making electric mowers are trying to model themselves after HP. A replacement battery for my mower costs $180. I can get a new mower with charger and the same battery right now delivered to my door step for $179. Thanks Greenworks! Are there any sane companies?

I wasn’t coerced or forced to switch and nothing stops me from switching back. I just desire a better experience. The US needs laws regarding privacy and standardization. That is the real issue.

My opinion about Apple is very unpopular. For me it is: “they aren’t a monopoly, leave them alone.” Don’t get me wrong, I am against capitalism 100%. Apple is needed because Google has no concept of privacy and is abusive. They are the competitor. I started out on Android.

Balatro has sucked up all my time lately. I am basically a stay at home dad due to current economic conditions, so that means I have quite a bit of free time. Much of that free time is spent playing Balatro. I recommend the game. It gets a 9/10 from me.
