Yeah, I just wonder since it is effectively the same as cropping in post. I guess if you were going straight to jpg, that would be useful. I think some cameras might have faster burst rates in DX mode too.

Also higher magnification for video. Subject detection AF sometimes works better in DX mode for distant subjects, at least for Nikon mirrorless cameras, as the subject is larger in the viewfinder. Also, file size is considerably smaller (allows faster burst rate & takes less storage space).
