But where did all the traffic go? How many people are waking up at 4am to take the bus because they can't otherwise afford to get to work?

That hasn’t been the outcome in any other cities. The money goes to increasing and improving public transit, and the trip into the city gets faster. Typically the people driving were already on the wealthy side—they had cars and could afford exorbitant day rates for parking.
