It might be even simpler! We're basically forced to be Malthusian, to believe that there isn't enough on the planet for us, when in reality it's quite simple; there isn't enough for our needs 𝘢𝘯𝘥 their profits; if we didn't have to waste resources on 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 profits, there's more than enough for us.

I had to scroll far to see this. Just wanted to add that Malthusian thinking is very useful to capital because it keeps people atomized. Collective action in the interest of survival will inevitably mean a loss in profit, and ultimately some degree of redistribution.
