The weird thing was, nothing hurt. In fact, I could’ve finished the splits right then and there if I had wanted. It felt *good.* But I’m still traumatized by dislocating my shoulder during a shoulder press five years ago lmao. So I did my checks, had full range of motion, could put weight on it.

I was the lowest I’d ever gotten. I’d moved my weight from the ball of my left foot to the heel and inched forward. Then, an audible pop. One of those soul rending, dread-inducing, “oh no, I have severely fucked up” pops.

I’m in the endgame of training for the front splits. We’re talking about mere inches off the ground and about 10-12” from having my front leg extended all the way out. This endgame introduced me to an entirely new sensation last night: motherfucking snapping hip syndrome.
