People called it hell but it's not a place where one person endlessly tortures you. It's more like the underdark in DnD where everything is legal as long as you don't get caught so everyone around you is always gunning for something you have as long as they also don't go down with you.
Also so many academics have disappointingly clung to the place, more concerned with chasing engagement than enabling fascism and it's absolutely depressing.
