This is even crazier when if you know how corrupt and insane the Japanese justice system is lol like they have an almost 100% closure rate over there because they just torture confessions out of the first guy they arrest and shit.
This is what happens when you privatise prisons. The people in charge of the prisons lobby for harsher laws so they can build more prisons and thus increase their profits. The invisible hand of the free market is quite without any morality.
People ignore this when they talk about "authoritarian regimes" in other countries.
