It always struck me as weird that one of the big arguments against any kind of socialized health care has long been "You want the government choosing your doctor for you?" when that's what my insurance company already does?
My insurance plan decided it doesn't need to do out-of-network coverage at all, so if I want to see my current PCP I'd have to pay fully private rates (no credit to deductible or total out-of-pocket).
Our health care system is gefukt. I know how it got tied to employment (an FDR wage-and-price freeze prompted new benefits), but at _best_ the insurance companies serve the employers, not the employees/patients.
And we've seen what they do at worst.
