It will interrupt presenters at seminars because it doesn’t understand causal inference methods and reminds everyone about their 1983 APSR that its wife conceived, dictated, copy edited, proofed, and didn’t get credit as coauthor. Doesn’t show up to job talks but has strong opinions who to hire.

“Corrupt” people have a viable defense against poorly defined accusations of “corruption.” So fix the institutions. Don’t hair-on-fire complain about corrupt behavior by individuals when it’s an institutional problem.

The problem is that the legal academy and political law field of practice think “corruption” is a hammer and anything they don’t like in politics is a nail. The concept is so stretched it no longer has meaning. And yes, I think the SC needs vast institutional reform, but this rhetoric doesn’t work.

My take was I continued discipline service during leave because I got it from my employer, not the profession. But I wouldn’t begrudge anybody for decling reviews or APSA committee work or whatever. I thinks folks should make the most of leave as they see fit. You earned it.
