I took an IT course and one of my classmates went on to work for RBC in a fancy office in the gold headquarters. His office was half of one floor with another company on the other side. Each office had its own card-keys and their own entrance on opposite sides of the elevator.

Be cautious. A friend was set to retire this year - even announced the date to everyone. Then found the financial planner had made a big error and she was going to get a lot less than expected. Is now working for at least a couple more years...

I would ask what exactly they mean by "fiscal conservative", since for years now we've seen conservative governments turning surpluses into deficits and mismanaging funding. Some decades ago it made some sense (maybe?) but not for many years now...

It can oblige people to respond positively, which can be tough because they don't want to hurt your feelings if they don't like it. But also, with music especially, I need time with it myself, without distraction. I rarely take a liking to songs on the first listening.

I hear you, but I've also learned not to do this. When we love something (songs, movies, comedy clips, books), it's natural to want to share it with people we care about. But to do so can be an imposition - partly because it puts people on the spot.

Linguistically, it may be difficult to come up with a workable definition, but I think it's one of those things we all understand intuitively. A relative has a place that is bigger and nicer than most people's main residences. I refused to ever use "cottage". It's a "summer home".

I sat with a friend in a park as the rain started. As it got heavier we went to his place so he could get a rain coat but I walked around with him and then home in the rain. It was quite pleasant (I had an umbrella in my bag but didn't use it)

My building is 20 years old, but luckily has always had a good board *and* good property mgmt. We voted to ban short term rentals, and those lock boxes are no longer allowed in the stairwells (they used to lock them to the hand rail)
