Les Adventures de Tanguy et Laverdure are pretty great (if a bit dry), but the art is mesmerizing. It’s a more realistically drawn book about pilots in the French airforce. But you can’t go wrong with the Goscinny written Asterix books (though, there is some dodgy 70s racial stuff).

When my table was constructed I had the carpenter put a strip of metal across the top so that I could hold stuff up there. I couldn’t believe how long it took me to realize I could magnetize the whole surface! The sheet of metal cost maybe $40? It’s totally worth it.
