If you've been thinking of hitting the LCS, buying a comic from a small presser, throwing a buck at a creator's Patreon, take a breath and go do it. Not my stuff, I'll still be here a while, I have a following, and my parents got me a car to replace the beater. Make someone's day who could use it.

Art buyers are uptight too. Saw a guy pass on buying a beautiful finished page because the artist had inked a blue line print out (of their own pencils!) instead of penciling on the final board.

Picasso was a piece of human garbage who wasn't any better an artist than any of his contemporaries (just louder) and IMHO his greatest contribution to culture is being the subject of this hilarious M Kupperman cartoon:

Our new web host for ACTION PHILOSOPHERS -digitalpress.blog - says the site is supported by ads but I've yet to see a single one (other than a "powered by Ghost" link) even when I turn the ad blocker off or try different browsers. Can anyone see an ad anywhere on the site?

I went deep into the character bench for gags on the handful of GI Joe comics I got to write and draw both because I liked them and also I knew neither Hasbro or the fans would care if I made fun of like, Raptor or ROBO-Joe.

The weird stuff is really fun! Serpentor, Battleforce 2000, Mega Monsters - I dig all of it. Year one figures were dullsville, I passed on it as a kid. Years 2-4 were the platonic ideal for the "Real American Hero" aesthetic - the figure designs, vehicles - all of it just hit the target perfectly.

I think they were headed in sci-fi territory with the whole Cobra-La stuff but kids didn't like it so they pivoted back to military stuff and the brand never recovered. Lot of the generic Cobra troops from 88-91 looked like Cobra-la leftovers

First the Jim Lee commission price discourse and now this...everyone jack up their commission prices by at least 1k now. All old work you did where you undercharged, send that person a bill for this new price. I'm starting a mob to enforce this. I need our most ruthless goons now!

I was planning on doing a personal little genre comic project later this year (like 40 pages, 60 at most) but then I started writing it and now it's a multi-volume manga.
Story hasn't changed at all but manga format/pacing is def the best way to do it. *sigh* At least I don't have to color it now

It's also the ONLY comic my dad ever liked. We didn't have many interests in common but we both made attempts to connect anyways. Once in a great while he would ask me what was a good comic, I'd loan him one and he'd quit a few pages in. The Cowboy Wally Show was the only one he ever finished.

I think it's one of the greatest graphic novels ever made but it's also chronically out-of-print.
I love the whole book but THIS page absolutely kills me. It's pitch perfect Looney Tunes level timing with words instead of actions.
And when they film Hamlet in the jail cell! Holy shit. So good.

It's important to keep informed about what's going on in the world, but never feel like you have to be *constantly* exposed to it. Doom scrolling helps no one, let alone you.
Feel free to mute accounts, throw your phone in the toilet... whatever helps.
