This article ignores the historical consensus that the Open convention wasn't what sunk the ship. Johnson couldn't have won that election since his advice was partly what sunk his vp.

Agreed. If the country has any hope of change, America will need to deconstruct the systems which allowed for someone like Trump (and Biden too if we're honest) to become president in the first place.
