I think the insinuation is that Leftists who despise Biden or who refuse to vote for Biden therefore want Trump to win.

its like 100 total dudes from the /r/chapotraphouse subreddit, the problem is that for a certain type of guy on here or on Vichy Twitter, those 100 guys make up 50% of their replies so it seems like this mass movement rooting for Biden to lose to Trump

I keep seeing references made to 'leftists' who 'want 45 to win.' Who are these leftists? Are they strangers on the internet? I just don't see this. No one I know on the Left(s) is pro-45. I know some reactionary *moderates* who are though.

That's more to the media not actually giving a shit about those events in the first place. However, pointing our unfairness does not fix it.

You need to either work with the media biases at play or find an actual way to surpass them. The media doesn't seem to give a shit about state rallies by themselves and neither does the pure dismissal in the ABC interview solve anything.

"the media just wants STUNTS!!!!!" sounds like the president should do some fucking stunts then! anything other than 'sit around moping' and 'release extremely low energy letters that also promise to do nothing and just ask people to vote harder for you whenever SCOTUS does bullshit'

you either get serious about tackling media as a problem as president and as a legislative body, going after monopolies and taking an IRS shaped hammer to white collar crime in this space, or you do some basic fucking driving of news cycles, or ideally, you do both. but "mope about it"? jesus.

you can't fucking drive a news cycle about the courts when everybody from dick durbin to joe biden himself agrees that the only possible response they can make to SCOTUS is basically a form response with all the energy of an HR rep saying "we are taking these concerns very seriously."

clinton was getting his ass kicked by limbaugh just on *talk radio* before fox news *existed*. the most powerful people in the dem party's response to media as an issue has been "vote to make it extremely easy for billionaires to buy up all the radio, tv, news, internet" and "mope about it".

if your only strategies to deal with an unfair media is "mope about it being unfair" or "get more racist to try and make them like you", and you've had tons of money and power and decades of time to do something about the problem, my sympathy turns quickly into "oh fucking well".

this isn't some random trans teenager the news is putting in the spotlight for bullshit. this is the president. the media being unfair is baked in. the party has insanely massive warchests, they've had power ranging from committee seats to the presidency, and they've had decades to do something.

as always, the obama '08 campaign is the key thing i point to when people talk about how Unfair the media is. it was extremely unfair how the GOP, the media, and hillary clinton herself were extremely racist to him. if his media strategy was 'mope about shit being unfair', probably would've lost.

feels like part of the longstanding trend of "complain about the media, but never do anything about it other than Hope They're Nice To Us" from democrats is that a lot of 'em find the shittiness of the media convenient when they want to knife somebody else in the party

Important to realize as we try to retain civility on Bluesky that all the stuff we say to each other will have literally zero impact on whether Biden bows out or not, we’re just hanging around yapping about politics like a bunch of old Greek guys at a sidewalk cafe, no need to take it personally

truly these kinds of histories are not important for 'i told you so's, but to simply have ourselves in an emotional state where witnessing places where we obviously have no influence on our elected officials does not send us into a spiral of panicked, desperate frenzy

i figure a fucking lot! the 'tweets can be vote suppression' trend was a huge peak of this in my opinion. when things are good in their mind, when they feel like they matter, 'twitter isn't real life'. when they feel powerless, internet posts become the hyper real.

and a lot of people haven't ever had to really sit with that feeling of powerlessness over what happens with politics and politicians before, just scoffed at it as braindead edgy cynicism, and now that they're feeling it, they don't know what to do, so reactions go all over the place.

this is not said as doomer stuff, but that thing leftists are constantly chided to be - 'realistic'. we have no influence here. whatever leadership ends up deciding, good or bad, we cannot affect. it's too fast and too closed off. it's vitally important, it's incredibly public, and we don't matter.

"what should biden do, what should the democrats do" and it is just blatantly a situation where 99.99 percent of us have no influence on it, in such a small amount of time where we'd have no opportunity to have influence on it, and that reality really fucking some people up hard.

thought that has been growing in my head a lot over the last year is that a lot of stuff is driven by a growing recognition that we have basically no influence on our elected officials' decisions from people who normally deeply believe in The Political Process and it is causing meltdowns

people who would sincerely talk about how negative posts are vote suppression forced to witness a series of events that is so obviously entirely elected officials and elites reacting to each other, happening so fast they can't make any plans around it, grappling with a sense of true powerlessness

this is a situation of where 1. tons of the behavior of electeds and people who do clearly have influence on them are incredibly public, where normally there'd be a lot more behind closed doors and 2. it's so fast and so obviously elite driven you can't even pretend you have influence on it
