For those of you still following the Ciotti saga: Ciotti is suing LR, which he claims to be the President of, for illegally removing him. But both Ciotti and the LR party lawyers claim to be representing LR, which is legally impossible. The judge has suspended proceedings... polisky

Haha, yes. As for RG.. it’s hard to say. Olivier Faure clearly pulled rank on him. I imagine he’ll keep a low profile for now and then campaign for PS-PP candidates when the lists are set. Now it is basically a done deal I don’t think he’ll trash the ‘new popular front’ in public but we’ll see.

In other news, Zemmour has kicked out 4/5 MEPs that his party Reconquête elected on Sunday.. ..Mélenchon (alone) thinks he can be the next PM of France.. ..and, after supposedly ‘saving’ French social democracy four days ago, everyone has forgotten who Raphaël Glucksmann is.

New sun in the sky, same madness. It seems when Valérie Pécresse (!) came yesterday afternoon with rolled up sleeves to pull Ciotti out of HQ.. he wasn’t there. Meanwhile, Ciotti has wrested control back of the LR Twitter handle and has been shitposting through the night.

This story is a thing of beauty. Geoffroy Didier, one of the Deputy Sec. Gens of LR, gave an interview just before the 3pm meeting saying they wouldn't hesitate to 'physically dislodge' Ciotti from the LR HQ

Look at #Hungary.

Orban's Fidesz underperformed at 44% & 11 seats. Where they go in the EP is the big question.

Magyar's new Tisza won 30% & 7 seats. They're expected to join the EPP.

The united left slump to 8% & 2 seats.

In total, right-wing parties got >80% & 19/21 seats!

Zoom in on #Poland

The big picture is a shift from PiS (-5 seats) to far-right Konfederacja (+6)

The Tusk-led KO (mainly EPP) has 20 seats, like PiS, but more votes.

The united left (Lewica) are at 6% & 3 seats while right-w. lists (TD, KO, PiS, Konf.) take >90% & 50/53 seats!

The media/analyst framing I've read so far focuses on two duels.

In Poland, between the governing #CivicCoalition (KO), dominated by Tusk's Civic Platform (PO) and the hard right Law and Justice party (#PiS).

In Hungary, between Orban's #Fidesz and challenger Magyar's #Tisza.

Yes, but to be fair you should then also note how excellent healthcare and welfare in the US is. .. oh wait, no. life expectancy is lower and asthma, cancer, depression, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension​ and cardiovascular diseases are way higher. what gives?
