I got two old ones replaced last week and it was damn near meditative.

I would really like an AI that can take these boring, abstruse API docs I'm slogging through right now, and turn it into some kind of high-level explainer podcast that I can just binge on a morning walk. Bonus points if Scarlett Johansson narrates, but I'm not picky.

You know you've got negative brand equity when people are cheering on *scalpers* just because it hurts your company.

This looks promising! I think I'll start with this episode—it's bound to be something I don't know much about yet.

Really enjoyed watching this! I love the concept of "home cooked software", personal coding projects made to solve the specific problems of people you know. Didn't have a term for it before, but this is my favorite kind of app to build.

I'm running out of audiobooks to listen to in my Libby app. What does Bluesky recommend I check out?

I'd like more Lina Khan action across the entire medical sector. Who cares if Microsoft buys Blizzard-Activision? Do something about all the healthcare rollups!

I managed a short run around 8:30am and I'm still not sure how or why I did it. I will probably not exit the house again until dark to make up for it.

Yet another reason I'll never return to any office: being forced to wear suits in near-100°F weather. This climate and traditional business wear don't mix.

I attended my wife's naturalization ceremony. My wife is extremely practical and no-nonsense, which I love. We took a 5am train to Mananas for the ceremony. I'll never forget seeing all these happy families waving flags, and my wife sleepily griping "They could've just mailed me this shit!"

The upside is that I know who this message is *indirectly* from. I don't know the names of anybody's marketing director, and I'm much more likely to ignore or mark as spam an email from some stranger.

I ditched FiOS not long after I got it. It went down several times in the course of a few months, often for days at a time. Getting somebody to come out was excruciating—at least an hour on the phone per outage. Switched to Ting, no issues since.

Next time I see a vacancy, I'm definitely applying to join. But as we've discussed before, it's hard to tell if any vacancy is real or not. And even if it is, there's as good a chance as not that it's restricted to a specific interest group that I'm not part of.

I did call the non-emergency police line to report a guy parked on a sidewalk, but only because the Alex311 app explicitly said I should do that for any currently occurring offense. (Who would report an offense that already ended? "Hey, I took a photo of this violation two weeks ago.")

Not nearly as big a grievance as this, but I miss the Hawaiian shirts. Employee t-shirts are so lame compared to those full-on floral patterned shirts of yesteryear. Although at least I'm less likely to be mistaken for an employee when I shop there now...

While I found law interesting in school, I think this is why I ended up a programmer. Barring the occasional cosmic ray flipping a random bit on your PC, computers interpret code with much more consistency than humans interpret law. It's a lot easier to fix broken code, too.

I am torn between the fact that a conversation with a knowledgeable person is always easier than trying to solve problems with forms on websites and my Millennial urge to never make any phone call ever.

One legitimate use of AI would be if Alex311 could look at a picture I upload, and choose the category and fill out the descriptions based on the photo contents. Would be awesome if I could snap-tap-tap-done. If Alex311 had API access, I'd try building that myself.

I agree. I tried a few options in the app before also settling on "pruning" as the closest thing to "please save this young tree if you can". I love Alex311, but it's often hard to figure out which request category to use. And always tedious to fill out. Still better UX than reporting a near miss.
