Only competed for one season with superbikes. It's a massive financial drain and took up way too much time. Happy to have the memories of it but I have no hankering to do it again. Pedal bike racing means so much more to me and the chances of dieing while doing it are far smaller.

I gave up track biking and car driving because of climate change. Not directly because of fried testes but because it is the pathway to the elimination of humanity, starting with my kids. I still race on two wheels but I am the engine now.

When I lived in Saudi, the summer was the perfect time to train indoors. I was ok getting up at 4am to ride before it got too hot but the dust in the air during the day was often ruinous. Keep going Spencer!

Seems like good weighing of probabilities really. The scenarios did not look like the peloton was going to let them go away with that configuration so they chose to save energy. They've only allowed a solo rider to go away because they'll be sure to pull him back.

Crazy huh. I think (judging by the helmets they were using) that Bettiol was to carry Healey over the gap to join Powless and Bisseger, to break to the end. But they didn't have the firepower to drop the peloton. So the front two dropped back to try another day...?
