Just the phase 1 trial, but hopefully an important step toward an vaccine that prevents #COVID *infection,* and not just severe (acute) disease. If so, not only would it drastically reduce transmission, but it could provide MUCH stronger protection against #LongCOVID.

This is great, @timeandagwen.bsky.social, thanks - hopefully I can watch and see how bad it gets when there's wildfires there. Though I found this as well - www.iqair.com/us/usa/calif... - the AQI and PMI there (34, 1.2x) is better than Boston (57, 2.7x) so I think I'm missing something. 🤷♂️

I grew up in MA - we still hate the British there. Most of the pilgrims on the Mayflower were not British. It was the second wave and third that were mostly Brits.

People like forgetting - most of MA, RI, ME were settled, not by pilgrims, but by smugglers *before* 1620 along the coasts. The pilgrims colonized, but the natives already were fluent in English. Also Bradford was an idiot.

And French, and Dutch, and so on; Brits like saying they were the only ones - they weren't. F - a lot of people trace their ancestry back to the sailors on the mayflower - 30 crew - none died, 102 pilgrims - 1 died bef reaching land, 50 died that first winter. Many pilgrims came from Netherlands.

I guess you do, but their seasons last 3-4 months; fires there's happen from the end of April through December. I wonder what happened in 2017 to initiate does every year since? 🤔

Maine split off from MA in the early 1800s? MA was building roundabouts then: easier to turn horse drawn carts around (that's why we called them that), so ME may have gotten it from MA then. But rotaries didn't become a thing in MA until the early 1900s. And MA removed most in the 50s.

The word Boston is behind the word Worcester on that one - they use 'roundabout' for driving, and rotary for gears in CT, but SE MA distinguishes: 1 lane = roundabout, 2+ lanes = rotary; the changeover is somewhere between the two. Roughly follows the clam chowder thing.

Assassination springs to mind. Declaring martial law also springs to mind - and then arresting all of Congress for a start. Violating the Posse Comitatus Act is a crime, but he can do it now. He can write his own budget, regardless of what Congress wants.

Oh, wow! I didn't know it had been so long. On prev threads when you talked about home, it seemed like you'd only moved out a year or two ago - really recently. But been fires every year out there; you wouldn't stay so long if they bothered you - what is it about this year that's different?

No - not everyone whose wealthy goes into politics. And I'm thankful for that. Imagine how much worse off we'd be if someone like Elon Musk became a judge, or a senator, or a congressman? Imagine that happening while Trump is running for office.

Then recognize that you are your circle of friends are probably more ethical than politicians. I'd be willing to bet than no one in your circle is as wealthy as the poorest politician in Pelosi's circle.

It's not a lie - Pelosi is friends with people who're republicans not for their politics but because both are wealthy - Pelosi made a fortune while she was Speaker, and she wasn't exactly poor before it. All rich people stick together. Look at voters, and you won't find many examples.

They don't have any. The result of the extreme polarization in the US - no democrat has friends who're in the opposition; so they yell at the independents - they did this last election too. Extremists of any ilk are, by nature, intolerant - dems, repubs, moderate, etc.
