once upon a midnight dreary
while I wandered, weak and weary
over to a quaint and curious icebox door
when I spotted what I had been craving
the plums that you were probably saving
for your breakfast, I am sure
forgive me please, I do implore
I ate those plums and nothing more
My children still remember the summer when I kept asking what was happening to the plums in a bowl in the fridge - only to find out that Abel was sneaking one every time the fridge opened.
I have eaten
the raven
atop your bust of Pallas
(by the chamber door)
which you probably
wanted for poetic
inspiration
forgive me
he was delicious
and said
"nevermore"
