The real answer is that I was active on IG since it started in 2010. I was one of the few artists posting anything at all. It would be another 5 years before the term "influencer" would be coined.

My upcoming book CHASING SUNSPOTS features a lot of elements of being a young artist targeted by older, more established figures in the comics and entertainment world. I'm disappointed in how common this story seems to be, and sadly, how I think it will continue to be relevant.

honestly hate that every time there's an industry bad actor, lists of "works by marginalized authors to support instead" start circulating like it's a moral obligation to be done out of guilt, & it's crickets every other day of the year. my art is not to be taken in as a reactionary measure
