What is the reasoning behind voting 3rd party pushing Dems to the left? I see it as the opposite. If the more centrist voters are the ones reliably voting for Democrats, doesn't that encourage them to cater to that demographic rather than the demographic who doesn't vote for them every time?

Yes. We need to copy the right's tactics. Primary the centrists relentlessly but still vote for them in the general if the primary attempt fails. Over time the party changes and the centrists become marginalized.

I was going to go with my mom in 2020. Then her dementia kicked into overdrive, COVID happened and my mom died. I've still got some money from her life insurance. I'm not working. Am I ever again going to have time and money both again?

I do wonder if part of the reason for the SCOTUS ruling and the media's pro-Trump bias is anger and anxiety that the elite bipartisan social contract was broken when Trump was indicted. Sure, no one is above the law, but the understanding was the law won't really be applied to the powerful.
