I LOVE how much the worst swears in a language tell you about the values of that society. Are their shockingest words about bodies? Religion? Family? Behaviours? Do they vary amongst sub-communities? I also love how, irrespective of meaning, the worst swears in any language feel GREAT to say.

My best advice is to recognise these feelings as a symptom of your values - an unpleasant side-effect of a genuinely noble thing. Give yourself permission to wallow for a bit, and relentlessly revisit the moments you're proudest of. Sending solidarity, and hugs if they're something that helps you.

Hey Danny. Sometime academic and longtime performing artist here. A viva is very much an intersection of the two, and post-show crash is very much a thing. In my experience, the intensity and duration of the crash is a function of both the effort invested and the importance you place on the show...

Okay, but this is wildly infuriating: "as tall as an NBA centre", "half the length of a pool cue" - just state the size of the things! I'll even cope if it's expressed in feet or inches, the NYT being American and all. These comparisons are daft for such easily comprehensible length measurements.

Let me introduce you to Tiddalik. He's a massive Goliath frog of indigenous Australian dreaming stories (creation mythologies). Caused a drought across the whole land by being thirsty and greedy. Caused a flood and formed river systems when they finally got him to laugh. General menace.
