In my view the core of conservatism is authoritarianism. They view some groups as better than the rest, more deserving of empathy/dignity/respect/power, while others are not. Which is why they have no empathy for the homeless and all the empathy for a rich white young male rapist. The gap is biased.

I started with the first one and ended up reading them all. Sure they're a bit rough but the typical Pratchett humor is there. And when you read them in writing order you get to see how his ideas for the disc and his writing skills evolve.

Iirc they need to remove the dragon parts at a fundamental spiritual/ontological level, otherwise any healing magic would just grow it back or the souls stay mixed, just cutting it off wouldn't do it. Laios reckons that eating something makes it part of the eater and truly removes it.

Yeah, the level of pandering in that season is disgusting. The plot is really regressive. Old people from the good old days save society from the youth corrupted by foreign influences. In my opinion the worst season of Picard.

Presumably whatever broke is still in warranty? Silver lining. Though that can still be really annoying, was without PC for 6 weeks earlier this year because I was waiting on a replacement memory module I had bought mere months prior.

Threatening people, abusing them verbally and dehumanizing them are also the right does frequently. It's exactly the kind of thing that works for the right but is not nearly as effective for the left.

One of the reasons, I think, this affects the left more is because we have vastly different goals than the right. What methods/strategies will work depends on the goal you're trying to achieve. Not everything that work for the right will work for the left, most of it probably won't.
