#Tolkien’s and #Blake’s mythologies are often compared but what does actually tell us about them? What do we learn about each author in turn? Listen to myself,
@sharonchoe.bsky.social, @urthonaunbound.bsky.social, and Jason Whittaker as we interrogate and try to answer these questions. #Romanticism

The new blog post in my 'How the Victorians (Re)made the Romantics' is now live. In this one I look at how the Pre-Raphaelites contributed to renovating Blake's and Keats's reputations.

Yep, BB was what sparked my interest. I'm not familiar with Watchmen but comics are a welcome inclusion! Where would you recommend starting with Shelley's Ozy in Watchmen?

I'm on the hunt for modern intertextual references to Percy Bysshe Shelley's Ozymandias poem. It's for an ongoing project. The more media the better from any genre/form (poems, novellas, novels, games, TV, films, songs, opera etc. etc.) The more recommendations the better. Send them over folks!

Personally, I love Jansson's Gollum. Tolkien didn't work out that S/G was a hobbit straight away, it took a few drafts to get there. Here we have a fascinating insight into how Tolkien's original description (1937) could be interpreted. It evokes the 'weird' in Middle-earth.

I suppose you can't spend all that time with poets and not dabble in it. More Cornish work by Humphrey Davy for the world to enjoy! The implications are exciting! Great job Uni of Lancaster team 🥳 @bars.bsky.social

New blog series/post: 'How the Victorians (Remade) the British Romantics'. Here I talk about the move from the 'Romantic' period to the Victorian and why revival isn't the best word for c19 Romanticism. I enjoyed talking to Tolkien fans about this! will-sherwood.com/2023/12/30/h...

Curious what other Romantic readers think. Not really convinced that the grasp or application of Romanticism really works. Seems closer to Victorian understandings of the 'movement' than how we think about it now.
