On the 4th of July, I always like to take a moment and find out where the nearest computer history museum is. If we’re ever attacked by aliens, we’ll need a working PowerBook 5300 to connect to the alien computer so we can disable the alien’s impenetrable shields and save humanity.

The prequel novelisation helped make sense of all that, by revealing that all Earth's computer systems were reverse engineered from the crashed alien fighter they found at Roswell, New Mexico. Bill Gates was just a PR guy hired by the government as part of their cover up.
