RPGs, books, and occasionally something spicy. High-tech lowlife. Queer as in fuck you. πŸ”ž| God save me from ever having to hear a 14 year old's opinion on anything.

Ah, that wonderful time of year when it doesn't matter what the weather's doing, we *will* have fog every early morning because the corn says so.

Seems like a good way to be charged with theft. Cops are petty motherfuckers, and will make you pay for making them do work.

Also removed the restrictions keeping under 16's out of working hazardous machinery or in unsafe environments like freezers and meat coolers.

That's the point of this legislation. Kim Reynolds' GOP shitfest pushed a bunch of labor laws that outright violate federal standards. Extended daily max hours for 14-15yo kids to 6 per day, to 9pm on school days or 11pm in summer, no restriction for 16 and up. Let kids serve alcohol at 16, too.

Pfft, not this year. My local Dems didn't even have their oh-so-important early caucus because they didn't want anyone other than Biden seeing support, converting into a mail-in primary set months later.

How's that hard work turning out for you, since the DNC has spent the last decade making sure there isn't a bench of potential candidates to make their bad choices seem more palatable?

He pulled 13 million votes in the 2016 primaries vs 16 million for Clinton, who went on to lose to Trump.

Clinton's campaign might have worked in 2008. But ignoring the changes in the voterbase since and assuming being the 'adults in the room' would carry the day cost them.

Yeah. That sort of background, and a candidate who was much more of a policy writer than campaigner suppressed turnout. The Dem leadership not acting to try and turn the groundswell behind Sanders into turnout, but trying to peel off 'centrist' Repubs instead hurt them as well.

Worth reading the article, the screenshotted click bait tite is built to cause outrage. To quote it: "So I think musicians should be thinking more about feel, dynamics and emotion, if you’re thinking about anything at all." It's a pretty milquetoast 'speed isn't everything' opinion.

I just refuse to engage those people. I am unlikely to find common ground with someone in a fury because I'm not getting out the pitchforks and torches fast enough, and arguing with them is just exhausting.

Especially the TERF crowd involved with this podcast. They are absolutely notorious for making shit up out of whole cloth, or based on a misattributed partial quote if it suits their narrative.

The source is not reliable either. BoJo's sister, with arch-TERF Bindel involved, making noise about this out of the blue on the heels of announcing the casting for Wanda, a transfemme character in the Sandman adaption? Doesn't take much to think a four hour speculative podcast has an angle.

Amusingly this is why I still haven't done the Endwalkers MSQ. The sheer amount of cutscenes/dialogue and running between them in the transition from Shadowbringers is just draining so I keep finding better things to do.

Yeah, it's something I run into as I read history. Modern research is better about being upfront with 'gender roles in this period do not conform to modern expectations', but you get Victorians writing about ancient gender roles as seen through their own which are very different from the modern.

You really have no idea how bump firing works, do you. If you held down the trigger it would refuse to cycle. The whole point of them is providing an index point built into the stock that the shooter rests their finger on to reliably catch the trigger as the gun returns to battery.

Yeah, it's not the original, IIRC it's a cheeky response to the ruling where a gunsmith made and tax-stamped on as a machine gun. Hence the attached serial number plate, since NFA controlled items have to be serialized.

(A thing which the BATFE has also previously administratively ruled to be a machine gun.)

Physically pulling the trigger *very quickly*, while producing a similar effect, is still operating a semi-automatic weapon as a semi-automatic. This is the important difference between a bump stock and a shoelace tied to an M1 Garand such that it pulls the trigger every time the gun cycles.

Common sense would in this case be factually incorrect. The legal definition of a machine gun is 'Any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger'

Yep. That was a pretty clear cut one. Congress defined a machine gun in plain language, and bump stocks don't fit the definition. Doesn't mean they're good, or useful, but that the law as written doesn't cover them.

Sorry, the right loves how they support the christofascist agenda, and the notional left is terrified of progressives and busy triangulating to the center to try to peel of voters comfortable with supporting christofascists.

I think you need to look into a number of things more. Your posts are heavily anthropomorphizing LLMs based on the fictional norms of sci-fi 'AI'. They're not remotely similar. Calling an LLM an AI is a marketing tool to sell an overpowered autocomplete trained on stolen content.

I have less professional experience in the field than @rahaeli.bsky.social but have done it enough to say that building policy that keeps out the worst while not driving off the community you want is grueling, even with the best intentions.
