Shameful behavior by USC. The claim that the cancellation "has nothing to do with freedom of speech" is nonsense. The valedictorian is being banned from giving her traditional graduation address because of her pro-Palestinian speech. And this rationaliztion is just "we surrender to terror."

I'm forever grateful to the voters who voted for me in good faith last year only to have their votes thrown out behind the scenes with no explanation. Here's hoping that will never happen again and the Hugo Awards will gain back its prestige through better administration.

I know the Hugo Awards are tainted for a lot of us but I'm incredibly startled and honored to have been given an unprecedented 3rd year eligibility for the Astounding Award by Dell Magazines. And the Glasgow committee seems committed to transparency so far.

- I don't actually know how deep the investigation is, I was mainly riffing off everyone joking about Dave McCarty getting charged with a federal crime - I'm not sure if they're taking it more or less seriously after the exposé

- They wanted a phone interview with me but I didn't feel comfortable talking to the US government like that so I just told them via email that I had no idea why I was disqualified (this was BEFORE the exposé) and did not know if the Communist Party of China had anything to do with it

OK if you all want fucking details - Email came from the office of Mike Gallagher - They said they're from Congress, specifically the House Select Committee for Strategic Competition Between the US and Communist Party of China, and they're doing an investigation after reading the Guardian article
