We will never how many were executed before they had a chance to be exonerated. It is time to end the death penalty.

Guys please be patient, the DNC legally can't let Biden drop out of the race until they finish installing the new graphics driver onto Pete Buttigieg.

The stat is usually deployed by opponents of gun control, but honestly lawnmower fatalities are high precisely because of a lack of regulation. The government has been begging people not to let children operate riding mowers for decades but there's no actual rule. www.cpsc.gov/Newsroom/New...

A lot of people get killed by the spinning steel blade machine powered by a gas engine? Weird!

That statistic about lawnmowers killing more people than AR-15s is a little less surprising when you consider that a lot of lawnmowers are just off-road vehicles without seat belts or meaningful enforcement of drunk-driving laws.

Wow it's so bad that presidents can assassinate people with impunity now. Hey, by the way, did any of those cops go to prison for literally bombing Philadelphia back in 1985?

It isn't going to be easy to convince people to vote for Biden "to save democracy" when Biden has spent his entire time in office refusing to meaningfully fight back against attacks on democracy.

If Florida's goal is to roll back the clock on all forms of social progress made since the Civil War it should be forced to use the flag it used in 1845.

I don't know if it is necessarily a contradiction. They see violent masculinity as a virtue, so if white men like them are portrayed as violently masculine it's a positive portrayal in their eyes regardless of authorial intent. That's something slightly different (and scarier) than media illiteracy.

Please. We do not need more Cybertruck discourse. There are literally only about 4,000 of them on the road. There were 141,000 **Yugos** sold in the United States alone and those jokes got stale within a year. Cybertrucks genuinely don't deserve this much protracted attention.

This is an incredibly bad precedent that both threatens all education labor organizing and also any strikes spurred by violent workplace repression. The logic that UAW can't strike during finals season or when grades are due is especially dangerous.

As for the screenshot you posted, there isn't any information in the article that really substantiates that accusation beyond a post the made on linkedin that doesn't seem to violate any university policies. I find this all very strange.

You're right about it being a professor at the same university (I got confused because of the CSU Long Beach professor in the mix) and parts of my timeline were muddled. But I don't think that makes the situation much less unsettling because those weren't the unsettling details of the case.

Even weirder, she was apparently justified in reporting the professor in the eyes of the university (who literally assaulted a student for filming a protest) because he was placed on leave for the incident. But somehow it is still harassment to file the complaint? www.latimes.com/california/s...

This is pretty unsettling. A SJP faculty mentor reports a professor at a different CSU campus for denigrating students, is ignored, posts about it, and is immediately fired for harassment.

For her entire political career, Clinton has admonished and sidelined her critics on the left who were saying that Democrats needed to do more to protect abortion rights and fight fascism. The absolute gall of her to suddenly point fingers at others for complacency!

It ultimately went decently well. Pushing for a ceasefire as a compromise position seems to work surprisingly well, since a lot of liberal zionists seem to have at least some recognition that a prolonged war ultimately threatens Israel's existence.

You also don't need to break out your magnifying glass to look closely at the faded text in pictures posted on Trump's social media to determine if he's a fascist. Literally just read a single speech he's given at a rally in the past six months. This isn't exactly arcane stuff.

I liked it too! And I don't think it's necessarily bad when sci-fi is super on the nose about the impact technology could have, that's a valid and even important kind of literature for us to have. It's just embarrassing when people still somehow not only miss the point but actively invert it.
