Interesting thought. I'd say that dumplings are more like pies or tarts, in that the pastry is cooked after the filling. Burritos are assembled from cooked tortillas and fillings, so it's akin to sandwiches, more than anything.

This is why burritos are the superior sandwich. Although some of them are ridiculous in diameter, you at least mitigate the risk of fillings slipping out.

The royals moving away from pigeon racing is a savvy move, given their reputation as animal lovers. I imagine they take better care of their pigeons than most, but they're still the face of the sport.

I did rotations at a wildlife rescue. While rock doves are not "wildlife," the rescue felt compelled to take them in as many were abandoned and injured racing pigeons whose owners would not care for them. Otherwise they would suffer and die.

Where can I read about the drama surrounding the Tenacious Unicorn Ranch? I was sort of half-following that story back in 2021, had no idea that it fell apart. I'm not surprised, alpaca farming has a terrible reputation for being a money pit and queer polycule communes can be unstable.

Little groundhog lives in the grass by our parking lot. She has her burrow nearby and occasionally a youngster. I never saw these guys out West, so they always delight me.

The Blackfoot Confederacy also crosses the 49th parallel and is currently divided on both sides of the US-Canada border. While theoretically a tribal ID is all that is required to cross the border, in practice border agents often ask for more than is required.

There are preexposure human rabies vaccines, but they are prioritized for at-risk workers due to cost/supply. The canine rabies vaccine is far superior, as 99% of rabies cases come from dogs. Only a handful of people survive rabies past the symptomatic phase, it's usually fatal.

Veterinary Medicine is usually late to the party, but in some cases, it actually has a few areas where preventive medicine, treatments, and other therapies are MORE advanced than in human medicine!

Distemper is a core vaccine. Leptospirosis is not. Distemper is highly contagious (from direct and indirect contact with fluids and aerosols) and can cause pernament chronic disease, neurological signs, and death. It's easily preventable with a vaccine every three years and protects other pets too.

Also "overvaccination" is not a legitimate veterinary diagnosis, it's concern trolling. If a patient cannot receive vaccines due to their health status or previous vaccine reactions, then they should have their titres checked at the bare minimum.

That's why there are CORE vaccinations (Rabies+DHPP for dogs, Rabies+FVRCP for cats, Rabies+Distemper for ferrets) and elective vaccines (Bordatella, Leptospirosis, Lyme Disease, etc). Elective vaccine recommendations are based on the patient's risk factors (lifestyle, location, health status).

Adding to this: if for whatever reason your dog, cat, or ferret has a valid veterinary reason to not get rabies vaccine boosters, they should have their rabies titres tested annually. Most unvaccinated or undervaccinated pets have an unknown titer status and thus pose a risk to public health.

IMO I think RFK Jr. is telling the truth here. Goats have 13 pairs of ribs including a floating rib. If you google bbq whole goat, it looks identical to this. RFK Jr. was telling a racist "joke" to a friend that the Vanity Fair journalist reported as fact.

IDK who cares, and I don't wanna come out to bat for the guy, but the "dog" carcass in the picture of RFK Jr. could be a lamb. Both species have 13 pairs of ribs, including a floating rib.

I recommend reading "The President's Two Bodies" by Daphna Renan if anyone is confused about the Trump v. United States case and its distinction between "official" and "unofficial" acts. I found it enlightening when I was taking the Sovereignty course in the Mimbres School.

It's a strange disappointment to find a nonfiction book on a topic you're interested in, investing your time and money reading that book, and slowly realizing that it's total crap.
