Because the audience doesn't want to learn anything. They don't want news. They want validation for what they already believe. The right is also full of people who are consumers of info. The left tends to be people who want to be involved in the conversation rather than just sit there.

I would also say that getting a job in media has a lesser path of resistance on the right than the middle or left. That might be from the number of jobs, but it's also a certain elitism as well. The left or middle (like NPR) tend to lean towards Ivy League or adjacent for even entry level.
