At that price I'm expecting the goggles they say are included to be someone's leftover cardboard framed eclipse glasses

WTF. The electric company in Texas doesn't have a map of outages so people have been using the Whataburger App to figure out who lost power. This is like when Homer was using the Krusty Burger map when they got lost at sea.

Nope. I've got one cat, with short hair. An ungodly amount of inch long grey hairs end up woven into my crochet projects.

Do you remember a couple years ago when Boston Children’s Hospital was targeted with bomb threats because of disinformation of their gender-related services, and a woman was arrested? She was convicted, and in the defense sentencing memorandum is something interesting.

The Liberals also promised it, then took one look at the actual voting results and what that would mean for them under proportional representation, and pretended like they'd never said anything.

Both of the top parties have promised electoral reform in the past. The Conservative party tried to do it unilaterally without consulting the provinces, the Supreme Court told them no, you have to consult and they immediately dropped it.

Because it isn't in the interest of either the Liberals or the Conservatives to switch, they'd never have a majority again.

That is the healthy way to use the app. And no, most people don't do this. STFU is a good thing often, not just when cops are involved.

The commission report itself (well, the appendix they grudgingly let him include) is the source of one of my favorite quotes about engineering. The closing sentence is: "For any successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for nature cannot be fooled." "

Yea. I mean, I'm not trying to criticize them, they're not indefensible. But it would have required a safety culture at NASA that didn't exist at the time. The manager's opinion was insane.

The sad part is that in hindsight the engineers' assessments were optimistic.

Feynman's account of the Challenger investigation when he asked NASA engineers and managers for their opinions of the risk of failure of a shuttle launch is wild.

The Estonian Maritime Museum has an INTERWAR VICKERS-ARMSTRONG SUBMARINE!

To Dr Clarke's and my knowledge, this makes it the only surviving Brit-made period sub in the world youtube.com/shorts/cwNF5...

My absolute favorite Chicago aviation story is from when Brad Moss and I were traveling back to DC by way of Chicago on different airlines and I switched planes to get on his United flight, and once we boarded we promptly ran into another plane. www.chicagotribune.com/2005/08/09/2...

Every weird Chicago aviation story is because aviation gods cursed Chicago after Daley bulldozed Meigs illegally in the middle of the night.

This, 100%. Is tragic but also incredible good. Don't miss what happened on the pilot's next flight after he recovered.

Stephen Miller now following Trump's lead and saying he has nothing to do with Project 2025. 1. His organization is on the Project 2025 advisory board. 2. He recorded a video as part of Project 2025 training tools 3. You can see Mandate for Leadership, the Project 2025 publication in the background

Saw one of them with Enterprise on its back when I was 5 or so and they took it on tour. Coolest thing to ever land at the Ottawa Airport. Concorde's one time trip here was a close second.

I saw that specific plane 20 years later when it was grounded in Thunder Bay, Ontario. There was a Cherokee parked under the wing, using as an improvised shelter.

The 747SP is my favorite. Let's make it smaller for extra range. Oops, now we need a gigantic tail. What? The Chinese accidentally dove one and made it go supersonic?

This. They'll defend it by saying "look at the history of royal families", but it's completely unnecessary in almost every story. You're writing a fantasy story, not a biography.

It 100% came up when I went on the heart transplant list (due to CHF, I've recovered enough to be removed from the list). I get it, it's a limited resource and they need to make the best use of it, but it's brutal and cruel if you're battling an addiction.
