What Keir Starmer’s new ‘six steps’ tells us about his plans for government
- Housing is out, 'border security' is now in - 'Fiscal rules’ now trump economic growth - He's gone from making 'pledges' for government, to 'missions' to mere 'steps'
Why do I feel like they definitely, 100% want people to photoshop him as a baby on twitter, because it's kinda dry but "my first steps" is so very memeable that it's the only way to get it to spread outside of politics circles.
one thing i really don't get about this is fiscal rules have literally always been austerity bollocks how did it take until the 16 of may 2024 to understand this?!
also if people didn't think they were absolutely planning to throw immigrants under the bus i have a double phd in wallet inspecting
Well that's bloody depressing! I'd have hoped Byline would hold their fire till the Tories are dropkicked to kingdom come!
Can we just get the Cons out first ? Keir's priority is getting elected ffs. Let's talk about other priorities or replace him for more left-leaning other after one full term.
Starmers pledges can all be fixed. deliver economic stability - Rejoin Single Market
cut NHS waiting times - Restore Freedom of Movement
recruit more teachers - Again, Restore Freedom of Movement
set up a state owned energy company - or join the EU Internal Energy Market
And yet, despite this, it is still streets ahead of what the conservatives are offering. Which says an awful lot about where the last 14 years have left us.....
