This is my most anything (liked, reposted) post here and I know why that is. I posted because I stumbled across the call when looking for something else for myself and thought it sounded good for the limited demographic call.
Would you like if I posted more calls that I stumble upon regularly?

I often struggle to settle into tense. Usually it eventually settles.
Sometimes, though, I switch tenses on purpose. Though it turns out readers hate that.

I'd assume the subscription with monthly (or an annual) payments because that's more on-going, but I can't do both and I'd like to try to do the one that's better for the magazines.

Question for SFF magazines that use both Kickstarter and a subscription model, say through Patreon or another method - which is better for annual support?

Please go subscribe! I love Inner Worlds! Sarah is doing good work, too, with a focus on marginalized authors and stories that we sometimes struggle to understand because they come from ND minds and individuals with mental illness different than our own.

Things Elan Reacquainted Himself With After Breaking Out of His Single-Day Time Loop, by D. A. Straith at Inner Worlds
This listicle-style story had me at "4. Tuesday. Elan has not seen a Tuesday in more than four years." There is so much genuine emotion in this story.

I've done a Mad Max re-watch and I didn't recall that Fury Road had that intro, but I guess they needed to explain the world, incomprehensible as it is, to anybody who hadn't seen a Mad Max film in the previous 30 years. And also explain why Max no longer had the kids from the end of Thunderdome.

For those following the 'dog with possble plastic allergy' saga, we have gotten out our Eco Frog bowl that has now fed multiple boxers and Frenchies and made a bespoke™️ bowl for Harvey.
We also have a new fully metal water bowl that is 1-not near as exciting as the fountain and 2-heavy when full

My reading reflection is up for the second quarter of this year! I read fewer books than first quarter but I'm still ahead of the yearly goal. Check out what I liked best this quarter:

Finishing and submitting a story = you're in the game = you rock.
Rejections are a measure of that last.
That means, getting a rejection = you rock.
So when you're feeling down, remember YOU ROCK! and write another story.
When you get a reject, remember YOU ROCK! and write another story. And so on.

Between Home and a House on Fire by A.T. Greenblatt at Reactor
For your weekend, a little longer read than I normally suggest. I liked this story on the in-between, that place between life and death, and being able to leave and choosing to stay.

Ooh! Fancy.
Yeah, that's the main issue we're having is a pump requires plastic parts. We're going to go wholly metal for a bit and see if that helps his issue.
And then maybe try a fountain. Because boy do our logs love their water fountain!

Thinking today about a poem-ish I wrote that is about this time of year growing up, with both the joy of the municipal fireworks show juxtaposed with the mess that was my family.
I really need to revise it and put it somewhere.

I think part of our work as horror writers in 2024 is to help people unlock the parts of themselves that can face terror and adversity without losing their humanity & goodness.
We are entering an era of fear and horror like our species has never faced. We need heart.

Note: I read all over publication time. Everything last month was 2024, but sometimes it's older stuff, too.

One thing about not posting much on social media is that when I go to do my short story round-up, I don't have to scroll through as many posts.
This thought brought to you by someone who is scrolling more to do tomorrow's round-up post because they were more active this month here.

#LateNightWrite A2. The main economic disparity in my dino story (as I call it) is what level of safety any set of individuals may have. And those who have electricity, and therefore electricity can bring, and those who do not.
I try to approach economies from different angles in different stories.
