There are always tons of good suggestions on lists like this. One I quite liked and don't see as often as I think I should is Winter Tide (and sequel Deep Roots) by Ruthanna Emrys. (Set within HP Lovecraft mythos but addresses the pervasive bigotry he exhibited)

I would enthusiastically recommend Micaiah Johnson's The Space Between Worlds. It's about multiverse travel but you can only visit a world if your alternate self there is already dead, so the people best suited to it are the ones whose parallel lives tend to be short
