Joe Biden is responsible for murdering nearly 40,000 Palestinians and absolutely nothing would have happened to him regardless of what the Supreme Court said today. The idea that something shifted today in how elites can use their power is a media created talking point.

I share this not to continue calling them out, as that’s been done, but so you can see how they think about accountability. Any professional social work organization that is not willing to be accountable to fellow social workers is not an organization that is deserving of your membership or support.

It has now been 2 weeks since the National Association of Social Workers issued their harmful statement calling for “both sides to address the root causes of the conflict” in Gaza. Since then, many social workers have criticized this and asked NASW valid questions to clarify their position on this.🧵

This is what we mean when we say this is not a "child welfare" system. Last year, nearly 400 children in the custody of Texas DFPS - children they forcibly separated from their parents allegedly for their safety - were victims of sex trafficking. This is not safety.

Please do not become a supporter of punishment because of the person who might be punished. Punishment is a tool of the state that has been used for centuries to maintain oppression - it is never what we should hope for.

One of the problems with the “lesser of two evils” argument is it perpetuates the idea that there are only two choices. There are not. Joe Biden is evil and you do not have to vote for him. The calculations of whether he is more or less evil are not relevant.

I’m sure others have said this but it’s important to point out that the lives of the 7 aid workers who were murdered by Israel are no more important than the more than 30000 Palestinian lives who have also been taken. The difference in the public response to this is telling.
